Padmasana - The Lotus Pose



Padmasana – The Lotus Posture

Here ‘padma’ means lotus, because this pose when executed resembles that of a full bloom Lotus, this pose is one of the most relaxing poses, after the initial difficulty of adjusting and positioning the legs, this pose when executed correctly, has numerous benefits.

Benefits: Allieviates the cramps in the leg, alertness and attentiveness is induced in mind, Since Spine is erect, this pose is mainly used for pranayama, According to hatha yoga pradipika , this pose destroys diseases, This pose also relieves the stiffness of ankles and knees on physical level, spine and abdominal also benefits.

Description:

Sit on the ground by spreading the legs forward. Then place the right foot on the left thigh and the left foot on the right thigh. Place the hands on the knee-joints. You can make a fingerlock and keep the locked hands over the left ankle. This is very convenient for some persons. Or you can place the left hand over the left knee and then place the right hand over the right knee with the palm facing upwards and the index finger touching the middle portion of the thumb (Chinmudra)

Note : Padmasana is suitable for both lean and young people , and also for ladies as well

Tadasana - The Mountain Pose



CHAKRAS AFFECTED : Muladhara Chakra,

Marmas Toned : Villu Marma - on lower back , Guda Marma - located on the spine Base

Asana Benefits : Improved Posture, Develops agility of mind and provides lightness to the body, relives any pain in the lower back.

Procedure :

1) Stand erect with both foot held close together with bigtoes of each foot touching each other,

2) Pull the knee caps up, tightening muscles of the lower back,

3) Straighten the neck,with head properly aligned, pull shoulder blades little back, with both hands straight on either side close to hips.

4) Breath rhythmically with slow, deep breaths, with pose holding upto 5 minutes.

This Pose which forms the foundation of standing poses is relatively easy to master.

yoga - True Science of Inner Wisdom

In this modern world, where competition rules all areas in One's life, most of the people are unware of hazardous consequences of this competive oriented Lifestyle, the one thing they forget in this lifestyle, is they forget to relax, which is an essential part for humans in order to maintain balance and harmony in body, mind and soul. The time they reflect and thinks, that I need to relax, is when they are inflicted with any or various illness, which disrupts the balance in life. So what can One do inorder to regain balance of these three treasures Mind, Body and Soul. The answer to this question relies in Yoga, which is really a magic tool, which brings us back the lost harmony and balance.

So the begining step to the practice of yoga, and include this in One's life, the major step you can make is include Yoga in your daily schedule. It doesnt really matters if you are doing it for hours, but what really matters and which can initiate change is that "the consistency of daily practice" this is what brings the Change.

The initial step for doing yoga, find a quiet place which is free from all sorts of disturbances, place a mat on the floor, try sitting cross-legged with your hands on thighs, close your eyes, and breath deeply, alinging head, neck straight. Stay in this pose for 5 minutes with deep breathing.
